we came up with two different film ideas with two different genres and got quite positive feedback. the class seemed to prefer our second idea which was the design of a crime, thriller film. they liked both ideas, but was more enthusiastic towards the second one as it was described to them in more detail and they felt we were more confident about approaching that idea instead. It also came across as more appealing to a majority of the audience.
our second idea was similar to films and telvions programmes for e.g charley's angels, the real hustle and chicago. this showed a mix of genres such as crime, thriller and romance. we got feedback from students in our sixth form, which seemed to be constructive and appealed to both male and female, it being intentional. they liked the idea of changing the criminals to women instead of it being men, which gave us our unique selling point. they also felt that using women of different races and ethnic backgrounds would interest a wider audience.
our third idea was based on the genre of crime. we wanted to make it a gangster based film set in america, 1960s, similar to films like 'goodfellas' and 'the godfather'. our feedback audience liked this idea, but stated that it would only appeal to men and agreed it was too similar to those films we associated it with, making it more difficult for us to create our unique selling point.
after receiving feedback, our group discussed and elaborated on our ideas, changed it slightly and made it more unique, but still keeping the idea of our hybrid genre.
